Plateau State Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has lauded the peaceful and well-organized nature of the October 9 Local Government elections in the state. Speaking after casting his vote at the Pushik 1 polling unit in Ampang West, Mangu Local Government Area around 9:15 am, the Governor commended the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) for ensuring a smooth and credible electoral process.
“The election is progressing well,” Governor Mutfwang said. “As I traveled from Jos through Barkin-Ladi to Mangu, I witnessed excited voters on their way to polling stations.”
He reassured the public that their votes would be counted, expressing satisfaction with the speed and efficiency of the process. “I’m happy with how the voting is going. It’s quicker than the BVAS machines used in general elections,” he noted.
The Governor also highlighted the large voter turnout, which was being efficiently managed with simultaneous accreditation and voting. He noted that the peaceful atmosphere allowed security personnel to play a minimal role.
“With the maturity displayed by voters, there’s been little need for intervention by security forces,” Governor Mutfwang added, praising the election’s transparency.
He also stressed the importance of continuously evolving electoral systems. “This election demonstrates that we must remain flexible with technology,” he said. “When accreditation is seamless and people trust that their votes will count, it strengthens the integrity of our electoral process.”
