Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has emphasized the pivotal role of the National Universities Commission (NUC) in ensuring academic excellence in Nigerian universities to enable them compete globally.
During a visit to the Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Chris J. Maiyaki in Abuja, Governor Mutfwang expressed his commitment to revitalizing Plateau State University Bokkos and fostering international collaborations for effective learning and addressing societal challenges.
Governor Mutfwang, a proponent of quality education, highlighted his recent advocacy for quality learning during trips to the US and UK. He secured five postgraduate scholarships with Liberty University and is working to establish partnerships with international universities to address deficiencies in academic staff and infrastructure at Plateau State University and other tertiary institutions in the state.
Since taking office, Governor Mutfwang has addressed issues such as accreditation, salary arrears, and infrastructure deficits, laying the groundwork for effective learning. He sought the partnership and guidance of the NUC to further reposition Plateau State University as a leading institution of learning.
Dr. Chris J. Maiyaki praised Governor Mutfwang’s commitment to transforming Plateau State, not only in education but across all sectors of the economy.
He pledged the NUC’s support to make Plateau State University Bokkos a global hub for learning, contributing to the state and nation’s development.
