Plateau State Governor, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has emphasized the urgent need for sustainable economic partnerships among African nations to tackle the continent’s pressing challenges effectively.
Speaking at a business dinner in Abuja hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia and Tunisia Africa Business Council, Governor Mutfwang stressed the importance of fostering initiatives that uplift both national and subnational economies, with a view to alleviating poverty.
The Governor underscored Africa’s vast economic potential and its pivotal role in global food security. He called for enhanced public-private partnerships to maximize benefits for all stakeholders.
Acknowledging the efforts of the Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mohsen Antit, Governor Mutfwang praised his dedication to promoting African unity and cooperation. He expressed optimism about Africa’s future role in global affairs and urged unity among African nations to drive economic progress.
Ambassador Mohsen Antit highlighted Tunisia’s achievements across various sectors and urged African countries to leverage their resources for economic growth. He encouraged Nigerian states, subnational entities, and private enterprises to explore collaboration opportunities with Tunisia in key areas such as healthcare, agriculture, tourism, and technology.
Meanwhile, Governor Mutfwang was among distinguished guests at the post Annual General Meeting dinner of the United Bank for Africa (UBA), hosted by CEO Tony Elumelu at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
The evening provided a platform for fruitful discussions among bank shareholders, Governor Mutfwang and other attendees, aimed at expanding business horizons and fostering partnerships for the advancement of Plateau State’s development.
The event also marked UBA’s 75th anniversary, celebrating decades of excellence, innovation, and commitment to advancing Africa’s prosperity. Governor Mutfwang joined in the cutting of the anniversary cake.
Accompanying Governor Mutfwang to both events were Senator Pam Dachung Mwadkon, representing Plateau North, and Senator Napoleon Bali.
