PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT TO PARTNER WITH NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE FOR EFFECTIVE BORDER SECURITY

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has pledged to work closely with the new Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, to ensure effective border security and curb criminal activities in the state.

Governor Mutfwang made this remark during a courtesy visit to the new Comptroller-General in her office in Abuja. He congratulated her on her appointment, saying that she would contribute positively to the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said Plateau State, as the Home of Peace and Tourism, welcomes visitors, especially foreigners who come to invest in the state with the aim of growing the economy and improving the living standards of the people. He, however, urged the Immigration Service to intensify its efforts and identify those who come to cause harm to the innocent citizens.

Governor Mutfwang said his administration has taken a bold step to address the problem of drug abuse and said the Immigration Service would play a vital role to stem the tide of drugs in Plateau State.

He called on the Service to collaborate with relevant government agencies to produce authentic, reliable and credible data that meet global standards to facilitate planning and effective implementation of government programmes.

The Governor said his administration would give the new Comptroller-General, Kemi Nandap, all the necessary support to provide excellent services, and advised her to be fair to all regardless of faith, ethnic and regional background to foster unity in diversity.

On behalf of the government and peace-loving people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang extended his warm congratulations to Kemi Nandap and wished her a successful tenure.

The Comptroller-General, Kemi Nandap, expressed gratitude for the visit and said she felt humbled and honoured. She said the pleasant weather of Plateau State has attracted a lot of foreigners to the state in the past and expressed her desire to work on the state’s security to restore its lost glory.

Mrs. Nandap promised to cooperate with other security agencies in Plateau to provide timely and reliable intelligence to flush out criminal elements in the state. She added that new innovations would be introduced to enhance the nation’s security through optimal border security management.

The Governor’s delegation include Senator Napoleon Bali, Hon. Beni Lar, Mr Yarry Kumchi among several others.
